What Should You Do Before a Massage?

At Green Massage & Foot Spa in Bloomington, MN, we want every guest to have a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable massage experience. A little preparation before your appointment can help you feel more relaxed and get the most from your session.

1. Avoid Eating a Heavy Meal

Try not to eat a large or heavy meal right before your massage. Lying face down with a very full stomach can be uncomfortable.

If you are hungry, choose a light meal or snack before your appointment.

2. Do Not Drink Alcohol Before Your Massage

Please avoid drinking alcohol before your massage appointment. Alcohol can affect your judgment and your ability to accurately feel and communicate about massage pressure.

For safety reasons, Green Massage & Foot Spa may need to postpone or cancel a massage if a guest arrives intoxicated.

3. Avoid Recreational Drugs or Other Intoxicating Substances

Please do not come to your massage appointment while impaired by recreational drugs or other intoxicating substances. You should be able to communicate clearly with your massage therapist throughout the session.

4. Arrive Clean and Comfortable

Taking a shower before your appointment can help you feel fresh and comfortable. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing can also make your visit easier and more relaxing.

5. Arrive a Few Minutes Early

We recommend arriving about 5–10 minutes before your appointment. This gives you enough time to check in, use the restroom, and relax before your massage begins.

6. Tell Your Massage Therapist What You Need

Every person is different. Before your massage begins, tell your therapist about areas of tension or discomfort and any areas you would prefer not to have massaged.

Please also tell your therapist about relevant injuries, recent surgeries, pregnancy, skin problems, allergies, or other health concerns that could affect your massage.

7. Communicate About Pressure

A massage does not have to be extremely painful to be effective.

If the pressure feels too strong or too light, please tell your therapist. At Green Massage & Foot Spa, we want you to feel comfortable communicating with us so we can adjust the massage to your preference.

8. When Should You Postpone Your Massage?

If you have a fever, a contagious illness, or feel seriously unwell, it is usually better to reschedule your appointment.

This helps protect you, your massage therapist, and other guests.

Prepare, Relax & Enjoy

A great massage experience begins before you get on the massage table. Avoid heavy meals and alcohol, arrive clean and on time, and communicate openly with your therapist.

At Green Massage & Foot Spa, our goal is to provide professional, personalized massage in a clean and relaxing environment.
